PCI Cable Modem Achieves @Homesm Conditional Level 2 Approval
World's First PCI Cable Modem
With Excite@Home, CableLabs, and WHQL Approvals
Boston, MA, May 16, 2001 — Zoom Telephonics,
Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOM),
a leading supplier of Internet access products, today announced
that it has achieved @Homesm Conditional Level 2 Approval
from Excite@Home (NASDAQ: ATHM), the leader in broadband,
for the Zoom Cable Modem PCI Model 5001. The approval is for
use of the model 5001 when installed with a personal computer.
This @Home Conditional Level 2 Approval, a technical milestone,
confirms Model 5001's integration, interoperability and system
stability with Excite@Home's high-speed data network. @Home
Conditional Level 2 Approval is a significant step toward
enabling the wide-scale deployment of Zoom Cable Modems among
Excite@Home network affiliates. With @Home Conditional
Level 2 Approval, the Zoom PCI cable modem has the distinction
of being the first PCI cable modem to have received CableLabs®
certification, Microsoft® WHQL approval, and @Home Conditional
Level 2 Approval. "The approval of our OEM PCI
product by Excite@Home is extremely important," said
